The costume of both old villages is quite similar to the folk costume of the Székely people from the Bukovina region to the northeast. Both of the villages have mixed population, with about 2/3 of the inhabitants Romanian and 1/3 Hungarian, along with a small number of Gypsies as well. When listening to the recordings from Bonchida, it is obvious that the interaction of three ethnic groups coexisting there has made the local traditional music that much richer and more beautiful.
