One of the last tambura bands of our day is József Kovács Versendi’s band.
All of the band members are professional musicians – in the folk milieu. Though not classically trained musicians; they use the rules of harmony spontaneously, though brilliantly and correctly. Their forebears – as far back as any of them can remember – were all musicians as well.
Their playing style and stunning virtuoso technique are characterized by a refinement and freshness distinguished by an ancient spirit and flavour. Technical skill and innate talent unite with a knack for variation and inspiration that grasp the listener’s attention.
