Ötödik évszak’s [5th season’s]
first recording
has met the challenges: it offers positive, playful, acoustic city music with folk music instrumentation that lingers on the Budapest-Paris cultural axis. Lyrical melodies from the multi-ethnic Carpathian Basin and popular poetry by József Attila, Szép Ernő, Csoóri Sándor and Victor Hugo become a unified fabric on the album. Use of the Hungarian and French languages adds spice, color and the atmosphere of walks along the Seine or Hungary’s meandering Tisza River - their music speaks to and tames audiences.
The musicians are well-known from many years with other Hungarian formations (Lajkó Félix, BudafolkBand, Dresch String Quartet, Hungarian State Folk ensemble). Members of the band: Hegedűs, Máté (violin), Csoóri, Sándor “Sündi” (viola, tambura, coboz, voice), Zimber, Ferenc (cymbalom), Szabó Csobán, Gergő (double bass, voice). French-Hungarian singer Izabelle Caussanel brings her unique world to the music’s style.
