Since its release their record entitled “Ne rejtsd el” has won every important Hungarian and international recognition.

The record was released at the end of October 2020. Shortly thereafter, in January 2021 it was already on the World Music Charts Europe’s toplist. Then in February 2021 Fonó Music Hall named the band “The best new band”.

It is an unusual and fabulous compliment for a first recording and a new band to be nominated for the Hungarian Fonogram Award….and then it WON in the category of: “Hungarian world or folk music album” !
The Hungarian Fonogram music awards have been referred to as the ‘Hungarian Grammy Awards’.

A total of five Fonó releases were also nominated this year for Fonogram Awards in a variety of categories… so, new recordings by: Dalinda, Bes o droM, Balázs Elemér Group, Cimbaliband got nominations.

Ötödik Évszak ’s first album offers positive, playful acoustic city music played with folk music instrumentation, treating the listener to an adventure in a Budapest-Paris cultural dimension. They weave lyrical melodies of the multi-ethnic Carpathian Basin with poetry by József Attila, Szép Ernő, Csoóri Sándor and Victor Hugo into one interesting fabric. A spicy bilingual atmosphere speaks to and calms the listener like a walk along the Seine or on the winding banks of Hungary’s Tisza River. The members of the band have all put in their time playing in other bands arriving to Ötödik Évszak with years of experience and an honest love of music: Hegedűs Máté (violin), Csoóri Sándor “Sündi” (viola, tambura, coboz, voice), Zimber Ferenc (cymbalom), Szabó Csobán Gergő (double bass, voice). The unique musical world and unusual voice of the band’s singer Izabelle Caussanel (F-HU) add special character to the record’s identity.

The band performed at the 2020 WOMEX world music expo which occurred online and was viewed by several thousand world music experts from all over the world.
