Charity program series for elderly traditional village musicians suffering from illnesses and financial problems
SUPPORT ELDERLY TRADITIONAL VILLAGE MUSICIANS
A charity program series is launched to support elderly traditional village musicians in need
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
A growing number of elderly traditional village musicians are challenged by financial problems and illnesses that prevent them from carrying on with playing music. Ferenc Mezei “Csángáló”, violist of the renowned Szászcsávási Band is struck by Parkinson’s disease but his financial conditions do not allow him to purchase necessary medication. For this reason, we call all folk musicians, dance house-goers and folk music-related institutions to join us in a charity program series to raise money for supporting our elderly masters in need.
The opening event of this series will be a concert at the Hungarian Heritage House and a subsequent dance house at Fonó Music Hall, featuring prominent folk and world musicians who support this cause. On 6 and 7 December, similar concerts and dance houses will be held in Győr.
We kindly ask all of you to support our initiative. Should you agree with us, please e-mail the name and logo of your organization to hhinfo@hagyomanyokhaza.hu so we can include them in the event’s press releases and banners.
The opening concert starts at the Hungarian Heritage House on 5 December at 7 PM. Performers include Márta Sebestyén with Judit Andrejszki and Pál Havasréti, the Szászcsávási Band, Félix Lajkó, Muzsikás Band, Szalonna and his Band, Dűvő Band, Jászság Folkdance Ensemble, Üsztürü Band, Norbert Kovács “Cimbi”, and the Csík Band. Hostess of the night is Ágnes Herczku. Tickets are available for 7 500 HUF each. Those who wish to donate more may do so in cash on the spot, or can transfer to bank account no. 10400171-01700978. In details of transfer, please include (in Hungarian) “adomány az összefogásért”.
Starting from 8 PM on the same day, a charity dance house will be held at Fonó Music Hall, featuring Fanfara Complexa, Pósfa Band, Buda Folk Band, Szászcsávási Band, and Tükrös Band. Tickets are available for 1 000 HUF each.
The resulting amount of money will be transferred to the Zoltán Kallós Foundation in Hungary to aid Csángáló’s treatment. Nevertheless, we wish to keep up this initiative, and carry on raising funds for our elderly masters in need.
Thank you for your help,
