Busójárás through a Busó’s eyes - Répásy Zsolt’s photography exhibition at the Fonó
An exhibition of photographs taken over the last four or five years during the annual “ Busójárás ” - a folk tradition that is practiced by the Šokac ethnic group in the southern Hungarian town of Mohács at the end of the carnival season – just before the beginning of lent. The photographer stood in amongst the Busó groups, photographing them from the inside, showing how the Busó themselves experience this incredibly rich, colorful and lively custom.
The exhibition was opened on March 28th with a speech by Csonka-Takács Eszter – ethnographic researcher and a director at the Hungarian Ethnographic Museum’s Skanzen and Intellectual Cultural Heritage administration. There was music by ethnographic researcher and musician, Szabó Zoltán.
