TRIP Dance Performance – Premiere

The performance is built around the presence of five people moving within a shared system. This system is based on repetition and monotony, which can represent both dull gray boredom and an invisible sense of comfort.

The piece elevates the inner order and structures of folk dance into other movement languages.

The perception of monotony in both music and dance can be simultaneously irritating and calming. Here, monotony resembles the power of religious rituals: a sustaining system in which a person sometimes seeks escape and at other times finds deep immersion. The performance explores the experience of repetition in a compelling and thought-provoking way, presenting it both as a burden and as a source of security.
