Gyimes and Moldavian Evening: Szeret Néptáncegyüttes, Csalóka Néptáncegyüttes, Moldvai Ifjúsági Zenekar - Concert and Dance House
The Moldvai Csángómagyarok Szövetsége (Association of Moldavian Csángó Hungarians) is a defining civil organization of the Moldavian Csángó Hungarian community and is present in thirty-six settlements in Bacău County. Its work focuses on community representation, Hungarian-language education, and the preservation of traditional culture. Through its programs, many of the county’s folk tradition groups now operate within the professional framework of the Association.
At Fonó Budai Zeneház (Fonó Music House, Budapest), several of the Association’s outstanding ensembles will perform.
The Csalóka Néptáncegyüttes (Csalóka Folk Dance Ensemble), led by Varga Zsuzsanna, recipient of the Master of Folk Art title, represents the Gyimes Csángó tradition from an ethnographic perspective. Administratively, the ensemble belongs to the village of Gyimesbükk in Bacău County and functions as its representative youth folk dance group. Their close musical partner is the Zsendice Ifjúsági Zenekar (Zsendice Youth Orchestra), led by Román-Görbe Gyopár.
The Szeret Néptáncegyüttes (Szeret Folk Dance Ensemble) is composed of Moldavian Csángó Hungarian students studying in secondary schools in Bacău. Its leaders are Isabela Botezatu and Elemér Kádár.
The Moldvai Ifjúsági Zenekar (Moldavian Youth Orchestra) was formed from the most talented students of the Association’s instrumental folk music education program. In recent years, the ensemble has regularly appeared at prestigious festivals and cultural events in Transylvania and Hungary.
The evening presents the living traditions of Moldavian Csángó Hungarian youth: shared knowledge, inherited melodies and dances, and the results of the work of several generations.
