Both the musical tradition we represent and the geographical area we draw from received relatively little attention in the urban folk revival movement that emerged in the 1970s, especially when compared to the instrumental dance music traditions of Transylvania and Moldavia, which are largely string-based. Yet we are irresistibly drawn to this region and its music, with its distinctive and captivating sound world...
