15th Wine&Violin Violin and Bow Makers’ Salon
For the fifteenth year, Fonó is hosting the Wine&Violin Violin and Bow Makers’ Salon, an event initiated by violin maker Márton Faragó-Thököly. Few professions in the world still rely on individual craftsmanship rather than mass production, where the work of the master craftsman makes all the difference. At the Wine&Violin Violin and Bow Makers’ Salon, Hungarian violin and bow makers showcase their work, while the evening concerts feature world-renowned artists performing on magnificent instruments. Visitors can pick up and try the string instruments on display, discover the secrets of violin making, and sample wines from Hungarian wineries along the way.
“Creating a violin, much like making a fine wine, requires the right materials, knowledge, dedication, and humility and respect for our craft. Every finished instrument is unique, bearing the distinctive characteristics of its maker. Meticulous attention to detail is essential to creating a perfect object that aims to satisfy the human senses to the fullest. With this philosophy, we are working to help Hungarian violin making flourish once again. Come and find the instrument that suits you best, and enjoy an informal conversation with its maker over a glass of fine wine!”
