Serbian New Year: Balkan Pop Up, Poklade
In January, the Serbian New Year traditions of the South Slavic peoples come alive once again at Fonó! The Serbian New Year celebration brings the heart of the Balkans to life, with Balkan Pop Up and Poklade ensuring the festive atmosphere. The dance floor welcomes everyone—whether you want to dance or simply ring in the new year to Balkan rhythms!
Balkan Pop Up
A spontaneously fermenting formation born of joyful music-making. They craft ephemeral, mirage-like atmospheric phenomena from a carefully curated selection of Balkan tunes. Immersing themselves in these melodies brings about a unique transformation for the performers. Their repertoire revolves around Macedonian, Bulgarian, Serbian, Bosnian, and Romanian tunes.
Poklade
Poklade embodies the entire spirit of the Balkans. The song of cicadas, the shattering of glass, and the fiery embrace of rakija. Flavors, scents, colors, zest, sorrow, and a profound affirmation of life—all infused with an ancient energy that grabs you by the hand and carries you away. Their music is true *poklade*, true transformation. The Poklade band was founded in 2010 in Mohács by disciples of legendary masters—József Versendi Kovács, György Tiszai, and István Peti Kovács.
Tickets: 3800 HUF in advance, 5000 HUF at the day of the concert
