The autumn season has begun, bringing with it a new collaboration: from now on, the Fonó program will feature monthly world music concerts and live jams organized by ETHNOTECH.

The first event will present KOBZA VAJK GROUP, who invite us into the sounds of an imagined, mystical world. The ensemble’s new line-up and unique, fresh program debuted to a full house at the House of Music Hungary in the fall of 2024.

Kobza Vajk is a remarkable Hungarian performer on the early music, oriental fusion, and improvisational world music scene. Alongside his own compositions, his music incorporates medieval and Renaissance melodies, infused with the freedom of improvisation, European jazz, and the oriental soundscapes of the Middle East.

This time he takes the stage with fellow musicians, and what makes the band distinctive on an international level is their unusual instrumentation, exclusively instrumental performance, and the ritual-like approach to music.

Their vision is to leave behind genre classifications and elevate the act of making music in the present moment to a higher level.

The concert will draw from Kobza Vajk’s previous albums, while also premiering the very first sounds of upcoming works.

Their performance is a conscious, unparalleled journey into the unknown—welcomed as something familiar.
