JAZZFEST BUDAPEST: Daveform Quintet feat. Rita Góbi

Drummer and composer Dávid Szegő and dance artist and choreographer Rita Góbi have been working together for 10 years this year. For the first time in their existence together, they will meet in the world of modern jazz, as they have so far mainly connected through conceptual contemporary dance pieces.

The Daveform Quintet, who work in the genre of modern jazz, combine elements of American, Scandinavian and Balkan music in a unique way, leaving plenty of room for improvisation. From jazz ballads to contemporary classical music and sloppy grooves, the guys show off their instruments in a variety of styles. The band’s eponym, composer and drummer is Dávid Szegő, who, together with Krisztián Oláh, Dániell Mester, Gábor Subicz and Ernő Hock, unleashes a force that guarantees collective ecstasy for all listeners.

Rita Góbi is a dance artist, choreographer and dance educator who explores the specific part of the dance language. Her performances are constantly touring worldwide. Her work is characterised by bold experimentation and precise choreography. Her style is characterized by geometry, minimalism and reductionism. Her choreographic concept is characterised by an instinctive coordination of body and state changes that unfold from monotonous and repetitive miniature movements, her movement sequences slowly and consistently transforming.In addition to her company work, she is regularly invited to guest choreograph contemporary theatre and puppet theatre productions. His work has been honoured with numerous national and international awards.
