AVA TRIO – „THE GREAT GREEN” TOUR
„Highlights included the AVA Trio, an intoxicating blend of double bass, saxophone and Middle Eastern percussion.” – Jazzwise Magazine
The AVA Trio’s successful debut release, Music from an Imaginary Land, won Best Debut Album in 2017 from such prestigious organizations as National Public Radio (NPR), All About Jazz, and the El Intruso International Jazz Critic Pool. The orchestra has toured Europe and China with over 100 concerts and participated in Jazzahead 2023. Doronzo, Ekincioglu and Basile are virtuosic guides and navigators of the rich and varied soundscapes of the Mediterranean. Following an intensive touring schedule, their second album Digging the Sand was released in 2019. This was followed by the 2023 album „Ash”, an archaeological expedition to the ancient cities of Pompeii and Knossos.
Their fourth album, „The Great Green”, will be released on 8 March 2024 on Tora Records. A contemporary epic set in ancient Greece, a time when the colour „blue” did not exist.
Áron Horváth is the cimbalom player of the young up-and-coming generation of musicians. He began his primary studies as a folk musician with Balázs Unger, a cimbalom player. He then began to study classical music at intermediate level under Miklós Lukács. He is an active member of several folk, world music and jazz formations (Elán, Sarjú Banda, Ephemere, Intergeese) and a regular guest musician. Since 2021 he has been a regular guest of Mihály Dresch’s formations and has since then also had the opportunity to try his hand at jazz on several occasions. He is currently a first-year student of classical cimbalom at the Academy of Music, where he can study with András Szalai.
His main goal is to showcase and promote the versatility of his instrument across genres.
