Jazz Pre-New Year’s Eve: Dés László - Dresch Mihály Quartet, Mandaan, Gáspár Károly Trio

As part of Fonó’s year-end series, the penultimate day of the year is traditionally dedicated to jazz—and this year is no exception. The evening will feature three outstanding ensembles, showcasing various facets of jazz, from emerging talents to established names.

The highlight of the night will be the Dés László – Dresch Mihály Quartet. Two Kossuth Prize-winning artists from distinct musical worlds unite for an unforgettable journey through improvisation. The rhythm section, featuring György Orbán on double bass and András Dés on percussion, adds exceptional depth to the performance.

Gáspár Károly Trio features Károly Gáspár, one of Hungary’s leading jazz pianists and the head of JazzMa.hu’s review section. The trio’s repertoire combines original compositions with jazz standards, offering a sound that is both fresh and forward-thinking while paying homage to the traditions of mainstream jazz. Their music is romantic, aesthetic, and contemporary.

Mandaan the duo of Krisztián Muhari (trumpet) and András Tóth (piano), presents a jazzier sound this time, blending contemporary trumpet and piano foundations with fresh jazz elements. Their unique concert experience combines modern electronic textures with a distinctive musical style that promises to captivate the audience.
