Fonó Wednesday: gipsy dances of Örkő

On Fonó Wednesdays we welcome beginner and advanced dancers who are interested in deepening their knowledge of regional dances through weekly dance classes. Live music instruction runs concurrently in both beginner and advanced groups, followed by singing lessons and a dance house.

Light improvisation, countless variations of intricate steps, complete immersion - these characterize the dances of Őrkő. The traditional dances and cultural heritage of Őrkő, located near Sepsiszentgyörgy, represent unparalleled value in the realm of Gypsy folklore. During our dance course, from February 7th to March 13th, participants will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with this dance material under the guidance of Erika Kis-Demeter and István Kis.
