Erdőfű Folk Band – record release/carnival concert

Streamed live from the Fonó

Dancehouse musicians active in Hungary came together to form Erdőfű Folk Band

The members of Erdőfű Band are committed to traditional folk music of the Carpathian Basin which they perform in the authentic style both for dance houses and in concert. The goal of their music workshop is to give a comprehensive view of the rich variety of folk music played by string bands for Hungarians and other ethnic groups in the region, while at the same time preserving uniquenesses of particular areas or villages. Their mission requires an immersion in, and specific instrumental knowledge of music traditions, which means that each member of the band must have the requisite experience in playing and knowledge of the local instrumental folk music. Their performances give audiences the chance to experience the array of styles, instrumentations and playing techniques specific to the Carpathian Basin. Their concerts feature violin, Transylvanian ‘kontra’, viola, double bass, cello, hit-cello, wooden flute, accordion and zither, complemented with traditional song and dance.
