Music of Vizmellék Region - Transylvania

Arató Band revives the traditional music of the fiddlers and string bands of Transylvania’s Vizmellék  (Kis- Küküllő / Târnava Mică River) Region.

Aarató is a band of excellent Budapest folk musicians who have been working with musicians, ethnomusicologists and archival recordings to bring back the sound of the fiddlers of this region.

The region is already familiar because of the Százcsávás Band, yet there were excellent and interesting musicians from a number of other villages that also served the traditional music needs of the local population. This new recording concentrates on their music.
