The National Hungarian Dance House Festival is a showcase and meeting place for folk musicians, folk dancers and folk artists from all over the Carpathian Basin, Moldavia and anywhere else in the world where Hungarians live. It is THE opportunity for folks who simply enjoy dance house events, professional folk performers, groups of children and/or adults, folk music schools and tradition preserving folk artists to gather and celebrate Hungarian folk culture and the culture of other ethnic groups living in the region.

The National Dance House Festival and Market has been going since 1982. It is organized by the Dance House Association. With just a couple “force majeure“ type exceptions over the years, it has been held every spring as part of the Budapest Spring Festival. The Dance House Festival is one of the most important Hungarian folk festivals. With the participation of our professional colleagues and help from our sponsors in 2010 and 2016 the festival got an “excellent folklore festival” rating from the Hungarian Festival Association. In 2017-2018 it was listed amongst the best European cultural festivals.
