Pletykázó asszonyok/Women talking
Bahorka Group has been working together for 10 years. Over that time their material has had the chance to ripen beautifully. They have put the poetry of Weores Sándor to music using elements of Hungarian and Balkan folk music with harmonies and improvisation from jazz. They play with the past and present, the village and city, children and adults.
This (Hungarian language family) program depicts three women sitting on a bench from dawn til dusk. They tell about their dreams, characters from the countryside markets of 100 years ago, medicinal plants, girls and boys in love, dancing goats, and all sorts of things spiced with village humor.
The group has created their own style which they call improvised folklore theatre. They tell stories with music, breaking down the borders between stage and audience. So, the audience can feel like they have gone back to an old, though familiar world still valid for today’s emotions.
