The Meybahar’s special all night long musical program, who they feel honoured to invite masters of music around the field of their music
interests.
For this time, will be the first when the classical strings instruments will be on the focus: the violin, cello, double bass with the Greek santouri and percussion. On this very exciting night we can enjoy the music halfway between the Western and Eastern world, with the most talented artists of strings from Greece! The Papaioannou brothers with Pavlos Spyropoulos,a nd they own musical compositions can touch the strings with sensitive passion first time in Hungary.The flying strings will be supported by Meybahar’s dynamic power to keep the perfect balance on stage. This night can be wonderful experience for the classical and the folk music fans.
Giorgos Papaioannou - violin
Giorgos Papaioannou was born in Athens in 1982. He began his musical studies at an early age at the Attiko Conservatory. Since the age of 15 he has participated in several classical orchestras as well as in many other music groups incorporating various styles. Since 2000 he has been living in Crete where he studied sound engineering and started studying and performing traditional music. He attended Turkish and Arabic violin
seminars as well as seminars focusing on Bulgarian music at Labyrinth Musical Workshop. He was also awarded a scholarship to attend a course in South Indian Violin taught by Dr. L. Subramaniam at the Royaumont Institute in France. He has participated in music and dance festivals all over Greece and performed in concerts in Spain, Italy, France, Sweden, Denmark, Turkey and other countries."From 2012 he teaches in Labyrinth Musical Workshop foundation of Ross Dally.
Nikos Papaioannou - cello
Nikos Papaioannou was born in Athens in 1991. He was graduated in music from the Music School Alimou of Athens and has a diploma in
cello performance from the Attico Conservatory of Athens with Professor Marina Kislitsina. From his early age he entered the paths of several
traditional instruments as the oud, the lute or the saz, playing various genres from the musics the Mediterranean region studying cello with
Ugur Isik, oud with Yurdal Tokcan and Nasheer Shamma. He is actively involved in recordings & concerts in around Greece and Europe
collaborating with a wide range of bands and artists a Lemonostifel, Petros Malamas, Melina Kana and others.
Pavlos Spyropoulos - contrabass
He was born in Athens in 1984. He began studying piano and cello at the Conservatory of Trikala “Tassia Kassiola”. In 2003 he started studying
contrabass with Haralambos Himarios (State Conservatory of Thessaloniki). He graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,
Department of Music Studies, in 2008 and holds a degree in Harmony, Counterpoint and Fuge, along with a degree in Piano (class of Markella
Tsouva). He regularly attends seminars of music theory, piano, Ottoman music, traditional drumming, as well composition and orchestration of
modal music. As a contrabass player, he participates in projects involved in traditional and contemprorary music. In 2009 he entered the nuevo flamenco band “Caja Secreta”. In 2010 Pavlos, together with Christos Barbas and Dimitris Tasoudis, formed the Magnanimus Trio (modal jazz). He performed with Erkan Ogur & Derya Turkan.
MEYBAHAR
The music of Meybahar explores and touches hidden places of our soul, through a music fusion that explores the music cultures of the Aegean
Sea and the Middle East. Their first album, Meybahar (Abyss, Fonó-2019) delivers a multi-cultural fusion of melodies from these different traditions. The band’s sound features tunes directly inspired by their Greek and Turkish music heritage and original compositions written
by the band. Meybahar have an up-lifting eastern spiritual ecstatic quality.Their first debut album Abyss, Fonó-2019 was one of the most
popular albums of Balkan World Music Charts 2019. The album was on international radio playlists, like Global Village, Melbourne - Australia,
the Mondophone radio in Luxembourg.
