Bahorka – record release concert: Pletykázó asszonyok [Gossiping women]

Thanks to more than 10 years together, Bahorka has successfully woven some beautiful music together to make this recording. They have put poetry by Weores Sándor to music, using elements of Hungarian and Balkan folk music, jazz harmonies and improvisation. It’s a game between past and present, village and city, child and adult.

Three women sitting on a bench from dawn til dusk take the audience on a journey in time. They tell about dreams, the personalities at turn of the century markets, medicinal herbs, girls and boys in love, dancing goats and all kinds of interesting things. Everything is spiced with the sense of humor and wit of the village folk.

Bahorka has developed their own style which they call ‘improvisational folklore theatre’. With music they tell stories, breaking down the borders between the stage and audience, taking the audience back to an old, yet contemporary and familiar world of emotions.
