An exhibition of mastercrafted bows and stringed instruments, wine tasting and concerts

“To make a violin, like making good wine, the proper basic materials, knowledge, commitment, as well as humility and respect for our profession – are all necessary. The instruments are all unique and each one carries the mark of its maker’s own character…..in an effort to help revive Hungarian violin makers...Come, find the right instrument for you, and talk freely with the instrument maker over a glass of fine wine” (Faragó-Thököly Márton violin maker, exhibition organizer)

These days there are so few trades left in the world wherein the products don’t come off of industrial conveyor belts and the work of the master’s hands is the deciding factor. At the Wine and Violin Maker’s Salon – Hungarian violin and bow makers present their work. The evening concerts present musical masterpieces performed by world-class musicians. You can hold the instruments on exhibition in your hands and try them out. The secrets of the violin open up to the visitors. In the meantime you can taste wines by Hungarian winemakers. This is the 9th time the Fonó has sponsored the Wine and Violin Salon.

Exhibiting instrument makers: Adonyi Iván, Bárdi Szabolcs, Etzler Bernd, Faragó-Thököly Márton, Ficsor Gergely, Gollob Balázs, Héjja János, Holló Bence, Kovács Tibor, Kőrösi Ferenc,  Nagy András, Popara Nikola and Székely Márton
