The Hungarian Hurdy-Gurdy Band was founded in Budapest by Havasréti Pál, Bartha Ágoston and Szerényi Béla. It is a Hungarian folk music workshop involving hurdy-gurdy players from all over the country who, in keeping with the tradition, are joined by wind players and singers. The band was formed in 1989 honoring the memory of traditional hurdy-gurdy player and instrument maker Bársony Mihály who had passed away that year. The band with its ever-growing number of members strives to keep the ancient culture of the hurdy-gurdy from dying out in Hungary – and especially in the Southern Plains. Their concerts feature traditional peasant music from the Southern Plains region, as well as arrangements of historical song, religious folk song and hurdy-gurdy melodies of other European peoples.

Their 30 year anniversary concert will occur in two 60 minute blocks featuring old and new arrangements and record release concert of the newly released CD “Dil-dil duda” with participation by Végh Andor, Vizin Antal, Dervár Ferenc "Kume", with Misina and Tiszta Forrás bands.

Dancing after the concert with Víg Band musicians: Kürtösi Csilla, Fenyvesi Attila, Böröcz Ákos, Takách Gusztáv.
